Here’s how it’s typically done:
Gems Venetian , Grassello, Surface Preparation:
Smooth & Clean: Walls are made perfectly smooth — any cracks or imperfections are repaired and sanded down.
Primer: A high-quality quartz-based or mineral primer is applied for grip and to ensure adhesion between the plaster and substrate.
First Coat – Base Layer
Applied thinly with a stainless steel trowel using loose, multi-directional strokes.
This layer builds the foundation and creates a subtle texture for the next coats to bind to.
Allowed to dry completely (usually 12–24 hours).
Second Coat – Depth & Coverage
Another thin layer is applied, slightly thicker than the first, using controlled, overlapping strokes.
The applicator begins to soften the movement of the strokes to create the marble-like flow.
Partial drying time is observed before moving to the final pass.
Third Coat – Polishing Pass
A very fine, tight coat is applied in small working sections.
While still slightly damp, the surface is burnished with the clean edge of the trowel, using firm pressure.
This compacts the lime and marble dust, creating the signature high-gloss “mirror” finish.
Optional Waxing / Sealing
In high-moisture or high-traffic areas, natural wax or protective sealer is applied after curing.
This enhances the depth of colour, adds richness to the sheen, and gives extra protection.
